According to a recent CNBC article, ten retail stores have already filed for bankruptcy this year. It is predicted that 2017 will mark the highest number of retain bankruptcies since 2009, and the above companies mark the companies found most at risk by the S&P. Sears Holdings said on Friday that it would close 92 Kmart pharmacies and 50 Sears Auto locations this year. Sears has also targeted 150 locations to be shut down. Bebe Stores will also close 150 of its shops by the end of May. These are all of its shops. Most of the sales are online now, and that is why these retailers are struggling. Also filing for Chapter 11 bankruptcy this year are Payless, BCBG, The Wet Seal and Limited Stores.
