What Did Your Brokerage Firm or Investment Adviser Do Wrong With GWG
Published On: March 28, 2017

Craig D. Price, a former broker at UBS Financial Services, filed a wrongful termination whistleblowing lawsuit against UBS in federal court on Monday. Price claims he was fired for his cooperation in investigations of elder abuse against another member of the firm. Price claims that he told UBS about the misconduct; that a colleague and the man’s girlfriend, were using power of attorney over a widowed, childless, wealthy client in her nineties, and that the firm failed to file Suspicious Activity Reports afterwards. The colleague and his girlfriend allegedly used the widow’s money and image to patronize and sponsor charitable events in the Palm Beach, Florida area. UBS then deposed Price, and he retaliated against the firm and accused it of conducting a “campaign of retaliatory harassment.” He then went on to claim that UBS created barriers against him with regards to healthcare seminars he conducted. Price’s suit asserts two counts of whistleblowing violations under the federal Dodd-Frank Act and a Florida state statute, both rare for the industry.
