Do you own a Honda CR-V? Does the passenger cabin smell of gasoline? If so, the attorneys at Stoltmann Law Offices are interested in speaking with you about your options of suing Honda.
The Stoltmann Law Offices Commercial Litigation Group intends to file a class action alleging Honda violated federal and California law by not honoring the customers’ requests to fix the gas odor problem under the terms of the warranty they received with the sports utility vehicle when they purchased it.
Recent owner complaints posted online include:
“The vehicle cabin smells like gasoline while driving. There are no leaks anywhere, this is persistent. I looked on a Honda CR-V forum and saw many people have the same problem. The dealership is unable to fix it, Honda has done nothing.”
“On start-up and when backing up intermittently the vehicle has a strong smell of raw gasoline inside the cabin. The car has not been recently fueled (currently has 1/4 tank). Dealership says that Honda has issued no service bulletins or communications for this issue. Online postings, and NHTSA complaints, show other 2016 CR-V owners are reporting the same issue.”
“The cabin of my brand new vehicle fills with gas fumes randomly while the engine is running. The fumes fill the cabin while idling, starting, and driving down the road. The fumes are very strong and I do not feel safe driving this vehicle for any distance. The Honda dealership service department and the Honda tech center are aware of the problem but do not have a remedy.”
Many Honda owners have complained of what smells like an open pool of gasoline inside the passenger cabin and Honda has not offered a solution. The noxious odor generally persists no matter the speed the vehicle is driven or duration of driving. The gas odor is intermittent but persistent.
The Honda CR-V is covered under warranty for “absence of defects in materials and workmanship, including design, and the durability and longevity of the CR-V. In particular, the warranty states that “Honda will repair or replace any part that is defective in material under normal use…All repairs/replacements made under this warranty are free of charge. The replaced or repaired parts are covered only until this New Vehicle Limited Warranty expires.”
Despite being aware of the problem, Honda continues to sell the CR-V and refuses to offer refunds or fix the problem.
