Stoltmann Law Offices just filed a class action against a mega church that encouraged its members to invest “god’s way,” which meant pouring money into a church elder’s Ponzi scheme.
The Stoltmann Law Offices Commercial Litigation Group and The Law Offices of Joshua Kons, LLC filed a Class Action Complaint in the Central District of California Federal Court seeking in excess of $5,000,000 in damages against Water of Life Church who allegedly assisted in a Ponzi Scheme operated by a Church Elder hired by the church to teach financial responsibility. The Pastor of the Water of Life mandated that members attend seminars taught by known financial predator Paul Mata if they wanted leadership positions in the 10,000 member mega church. Mata encouraged his victims to invest “God’s Way,” which translated to lining his pockets. When Church members got suspicious of Mata’s sales tactics on church property, the church’s Pastor refused to terminate Mata.
The Stoltmann Law Offices Commercial Litigation Group is currently investigating several other churches involved in similar schemes where church leaders were given kick-backs by unscrupulous financial advisors in exchange for leading their flock into a den of thieves.
